SALARY: $7465 - $9112 Approximate Monthly Equivalent; Paid Biweekly.QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an approved educational program for Nurse Practitioners; current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California which specifies that the individual is licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Midwife,ORPossession of a valid certificate issued by the Board of Registered Nursing authorizing use of the title Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Midwife.Positions assigned to Kern Medical Center require possession and maintenance of a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.FOLLOWING AN OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT, YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO POST OFFER MEDICAL AND DRUG SCREENING TESTS AT COUNTY EXPENSE.ADMITTANCE TO EACH PHASE OF THE EXAMINATION WILL REQUIRE A GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTOGRAPH IDENTIFICATION. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Incumbents at Kern Medical Center perform the following essential functions: Interviews patients to obtain medical histories and performs physical examinations. Orders specified diagnostic tests; diagnoses and prescribes treatment for common illnesses. Performs screening or diagnostic procedures including, but not limited to, audiometry, breast examinations, pelvic examinations, Pap smears and tonometry. Educates patients about common medical, social and psychological conditions. Dependent upon area of practice or department assignments, demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of the newborn, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient ranging up to 100+ years of age.Other Functions: Performs other-related services under the supervision of a licensed physician, as permitted by standardized protocols and within the scope of their licensure. Performs other job-related duties as required.APPRAISAL (Weight 100%): of training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the work based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and rating of application.
