Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse C - Cardiovascular Lab, practices in a large university medical center with a Level I Tertiary Trauma Center designation. Under the general supervision of the Director CDL/CVL and the direct supervision of the CVL Manager, follows the nursing process to perform simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures for the adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations with cardiac dysfunction. Performs the nursing process independently; serves as a role model in multidisciplinary patient care delivery methods, problem solving, and consistently demonstrates advanced level of clinical practice. Applies discretion and independent judgment to the provision of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. Collaborates and provides leadership in the development of standards of care, patient/family education and staff education to address the needs of this specialized patient population. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands cardiovascular knowledge base and clinical skills. Meets qualifications, licensure/certifications, and competencies as defined in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Participates in educational activities, departmental committees, approved research projects and other health-related projects as assigned. Provides direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources; appraises quality and effectiveness of material and equipment and communicates to responsible individuals. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Guide the professional growth of others across the continuum of care through role modeling, coaching and/or mentoring, e.g., designing orientation modules, serving as a primary preceptor to staff or students. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Completion of Registered Nursing (RN) program required, BSN preferred. Three or more years of previous cardiac or vascular catheterization or electrophysiology experience required. Active California RN License and Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required by end of introductory period. Able to lift 50lbs to the waist required.
