He/she must abide by the regulations of the Pennsylvania State Registered Nurse Practice Act, maintain standards of practice as delineated by professional organizations and adhere to the policies and procedures of St. Lukes Hospital and Health Network. He/she must abide by the regulations set forth by the Radiation Commission pertaining to radiation safety. He/she assesses and directs the care provided to patients by the technical staff in the Electrophysiology Lab. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information. 2. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements 3. Demonstrates/models the Networks Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external). 4. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety. 5. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices. 6. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code. 7. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. 8. Assesses the physical and emotional status of patients requiring electrophysiology studies and oversees care given by technical staff. 9. Monitors and assesses the clinical status of patient having diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Electrophysiology Lab or other departments relating to procedures performed in the Electrophysiology Lab. 10. Provides accurate documentation of nursing care in accordance with Hospital and Electrophysiology Lab policies and procedures. 11. Demonstrates competency in the administration and knowledge of actions potential side-effects of medications utilized in the Electrophysiology Lab. 12. Administers and documents medication and blood products in accordance with Hospital and Electrophysiology Lab policies and procedures. 13. Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and responds appropriately to fluctuations of parameters. 14. Assumes on-call responsibilities as scheduled and provides voluntary additional hours worked as needed to complete procedures and provides nursing care in the Electrophysiology Lab. 15. Demonstrates proficiency in maintaining hemostasis of access sites. 16. Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of all equipment utilized in the Electrophysiology Lab and Cardiac Cath Lab. 17. Participates in orientation of new personnel in continuing education and training. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Registered Professional Nurse, with current license to practice in the state of Pennsylvania. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: ACLS BLS 2 years of EP experience WORK SCHEDULE: Varied day shifts - Monday through Friday On-call as scheduled Mandatory overtime as needed Other hours as scheduled
