High School/GEDSt. Marys Hospital is hiring a Full Time LPN for the Family Medicine Clinic.*Candidate must have a current CO LPN license*New LPN grads are welcome to applyDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain clinic and hospital standards, procedures, protocols, and guidelines. Maintain Joint Commission recommendations. Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control. Provide an environment conducive to safety and health. Room patients and obtain vital signs, chief complaint, and medication reconciliation at the direction of an RN or physician. Collect, report, and document objective/subjective data. Report signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status. Prepare the exam or treatment room with the appropriate equipment before patient visits. Set up for all procedures. Assist the provider with exams, procedures and treatments as directed. Perform diagnostic tests in accordance with job specific competencies. Collect and process specimens. Nurse visits as per hospital policy and under the supervision of a RN or physician. Prepare, administer and document immunizations, injections, and medications per hospital policy. Maintain medication storage in accordance with hospital standards. Document prescribed interventions and responses. (LPN can provide IV therapy if completed a Board approved IV certification course including supervised clinical). Perform selected IV therapy functions as delegated and supervised by a RN. Verify that medical orders are accurate, properly authorized with no documented contraindications. Record and log oxygen tank monitoring, refrigerator temperatures, and urine controls daily. Record and log eyewash checks as appropriate. Maintain sample medication management system in accordance with hospital standard. Track laboratory test results. Return calls for providers as directed. Maintain exam, treatment rooms and inventory of supplies and equipment. Inspect exam and treatment rooms monthly for outdated medications and supplies. Wash, wrap, and sterilize equipment. Provide direct care, comfort measures, and emotional support to patients whose condition is stable or predictable. Under direct supervision: Provide care, interventions, and communicate response for patients whose condition is complex or unstable.Assist and provide reinforcement with patient teaching. Document teaching. Document accurately and timely. Communicate completion of assigned duties and patient responses. Complete assigned audits with results and action plan. Perform office procedures including all general administrative duties as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Demonstrates professionalism in interactions with patients, physicians, nursing, staff, and other patient care members and co-workers. Attends scheduled meetings and inservices.JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation: More than 1 year beyond high school Experience: Greater than 3 months of LPN experienceLicense / Certification / Registration: Current Colorado Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)Working Environment: Works in a well lit, heated and ventilated area. Position requires considerable mobility throughout the facilities. Potential exposure to routine, communicable diseases through regular contact with employees and the public at large.
