San Jacinto Methodist Hospital is currently seeking a weekend Nursing House Supervisor needed to join our team.
This position exists to provide a liaison on behalf of Administration and has responsibility and accountability for maintaining the standard of care established by San Jacinto Methodist Hospital on his/her eight/twelve hour shift.1. Assists the Department Director/ Manager with implementation of goals and objectives for the nursing department. 2. Teaches staff to critically think by verbally expressing rationale for decisions and following up by coaching and critiquing colleagues thought processes in complex situations. 3. Possesses level of expertise that enables an appropriate response to technical questions and ability to resolve complex issues. 4. Demonstrates current clinical expertise in specialty areas, and is able to provide direct care in a multi-problem nursing situation. 5. Gives structured feedback with examples and guides action/development plans for staff. 6. Creates a climate free of fear by communicating and questioning, encouraging and supporting others to do the same. 7. Identifies key clinical priorities for improvement on a nursing unit and makes recommendations to the Director for improvement. 8. Demonstrates the components of the ICARE values statement (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence). 9. Experience - External: EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. BSN PreferredCurrent licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSHas a minimum of five years of clinical in Medical/Surgical or critical care and two years management experience which includes previous house supervisor experience.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIREDCurrent license to practice as an RN in the State of TexasBCLS, ACLSSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDBasic EKG and Code Team classes within one year of employmentWORKING ENVIRONMENTCategory 1 The nurse will be expected to perform tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Universal Precautions required. Lifting, pushing, and pulling required (minimum 50 lbs.). Extended periods of walking and standing required.
