Spencerian College, Louisville has an opening for a Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing reports to the Dean of Nursing Education and is responsible for the administration of the Practical Nursing Program and the Associate Degree in Nursing Program. This includes faculty and staff recruitment and supervision, student selection and counseling. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:-Serve as primary member of admissions committee by screening of student applicants and make final decisions regarding admission into the Practical Nursing Diploma and Associate Degree in Nursing programs.-Plan the academic schedule, taking into consideration the student needs, the requirements of the Kentucky Board of Nursing, and faculty expertise. -Work with the Dean of the College in monitoring Satisfactory Academic Progress. -Assure that academic counseling sessions are provided by faculty to students as needed. -Assist the Director of Career Services in identifying job opportunities for graduates. -Work closely with the Dean of Nursing Education in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the nursing programs of the college.-Support and participate in the coordination of program enhancements and programmatic changes.-Work with faculty and the Dean of Nursing Education to periodically review syllabi and course outlines to update as necessary. -Coordinate program review visits and activities with the Kentucky Board of Nursing.-Meet at least quarterly with the nursing faculty to guide and collaborate with them to review, evaluate and revise the curriculum and maintain documentation of same. -Instruct a course as needed.Qualifications -Minimum of a Masters Degree in Nursing from a college or university that is accredited by an agency that is approved by the U.S. Department of Education. -Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience within the immediate past 10 years. -Minimum of 2 years experience teaching and 2 years of administration experience. -The ideal candidate will have the ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. -Ability to supervise and train, staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.
