Provides nursing services for clients before, during and after undergoing Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) treatment and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment for conditions such as clinical depression, unipolar and bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease, both by working independently and as a member of an integrated care team. Prepares the client for treatment, assists with the informed consent process, administers the transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment from an electromagnetic device as prescribed by the physician and/or assists the physician during the ECT procedure. Provides education and support to client and family, performs direct nursing care as appropriate to ensure the comfort and safety of clients undergoing procedures, providing post-ECT care, and assisting with discharge/transfer following treatment. Prepares for and responds to fluctuating workloads and unexpected critical situations. Consults, confers, and collaborates with colleagues and other health care providers. Demonstrates expertise and leadership in nursing practice. Maintains and advances clinical competence. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience: -Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or two (2) years recent, related critical care experience.
