Registered Nurse First Assist / Seasonal (3 month assignment) The hours are Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM until 2:00 PM, plus call or 2:30 PM until 11:00 PMJob Description: POSITION SUMMARY: Performs first assistant responsibilities in accordance with the State of Arizona Nurse Practice Act and AORN Standards. A Registered Nurse who functions under the direct supervision of the surgeon being assisted. Assists the surgeon on a surgical procedure by positioning, prepping and draping the patient, retracting tissue, suturing and ligating tissue, suctioning and applying dressings. The first assistant does not function in the scrubbed role on the procedure and is dedicated solely to assisting the primary surgeon. (The surgeon must by physically present in the operating room where the surgical procedure is being performed until the patient leaves the OR.) Experience Required: In this seasonal position, successful candidate must a Registered Nurse who is experienced in open heart surgery and endovein harvesting using the Terumo system; 3 years of perioperative nursing experience in both a scrub and circulating role.Certification Preferred: CRNFA certification ACLS
