Baylor All Saints Medical Center has state-of-the-art Cath Lab equipment along with administration commitment to grow this service line. The Nurse Manager supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel in one or more patient care units. Verifies that patients´ needs are met and evaluates unit nursing care and performance. Participates in planning work of assigned units and coordinates activities with other patient care units and related departments. Plans and organizes training for unit staff members, and participates in guidance and educational programs. Provides direct patient care when necessary for specific patient age groups. Job Functions• Staff Development: Develops performance plans, identifies performance issues, manages performance and career development. Approves and contributes to in-service education programs for assigned staff. Coordinates the educational activities of staff; communicates new/revised protocols, guidelines, and standards to assigned staff as changes occur. • Patient Care: Manages and coordinates the activities of Nursing and Support Staff of assigned units to ensure patient care is provided in accordance with the established Baylor Health Care System (BHCS) standards and legal requirements. Ensures that continuity of care is maintained during all shifts of the unit providing 24-hour patient care. Provides professional Nursing care to patients when necessary due to work load or staffing shortages. • Staffing: Ensures appropriate staffing is provided for all shifts of operation for responsible units. Monitors, evaluates and modifies staffing patterns in order to properly utilize assigned staff to provide patient care in assigned areas; prepares and modifies work schedules as needed to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts; approves paid time off, sick time, and leave of absence requirements for assigned staff. • QA/CQI: Coordinates QA/CQI activities for assigned areas; ensures that unit standards and monitoring procedures are consistent with the goals and objectives of BHCS QA/CQI programs and relevant legal requirements. • Patient Satisfaction: Performs daily rounding to ensure patient satisfaction criteria are being met and to monitor and evaluate employee performance. Investigates, resolves, and documents the resolution of complaints or incidents concerning patients. • Coordination: Communicates with various departments to coordinate services, resolve operational issues, and improve quality of patient care. • Budget: Provides input to operational budget development. Manages budget for areas of responsibility. • Process Improvement: Continuously reviews processes for operational improvement and efficiencies. • Management: Oversees the planning and delivery of patient care by Nursing Staff during the 24-hour operation of assigned unit according to identified patient needs; conducts regularly scheduled rounds on assigned units to ensure quality care is provided; conducts staff meetings to ensure continuity of planning and implementation of effective patient care. • Other Duties: Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.RequirementsInterested candidates must have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing, a current TX RN license, multiple years of management experience, recent Cath Lab experience and ACLS certification. A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred. Candidates must live within a 30 minute drive or less from the hospital. The Director of Cardiovascular Services/Cath Lab facilitates the integration and teamwork of all related departments for optimal care of patients.The Director works in conjunction with the facility administrative staff and the Cardiovascular Services Medical Director to ensure the highest level of care for patients, and ensures that all services provided meet all regulatory requirements and guidelines.The Director works with physicians to adopt and incorporate quality initiatives, understand economic considerations, and increase physician/hospital alignment.The Director is responsible for development of strategic and tactical plans to maximize the effectiveness of Cardiovascular services at the facility. This includes budget planning and management (capital and operational). The Director is responsible for ensuring that Cardiovascular Services are performing in conjunction with the mission and values of the facility and of HCA, including participation in goals and processes derived form HCA-CCMN initiatives.All patient populations are served, from Neonate/Infant to Adult/Geriatric.
