Responsible and accountable on a 24/7 basis for the daily clinical and administrative operations of SOU and Cath Lab. This includes clinical oversight, staffing, scheduling, counseling, performance management, educational planning, maintenance of budgeting staffing standards, guidance for nursing practices and oversight of billing and charging practices. This position reports directly to the Director/Patient Care Support Services.RN graduate of accredited school of nursing. BSN required. Minimum five years experience as an RN in Cath Lab/Critical Care with demonstrated leadership experience. Prior management experience required. Current Washington State RN licensure. AHA CPR certification required. Prefer certification in area of clinical expertise. CPAN, ACLS and PALS required.

This health care campus will include both a hospital and medical office building serving Cleveland´s eastern and southeastern suburban populations. The Nurse Manager supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel in one or more patient care units. Verifies that patients´ needs are met and evaluates unit nursing care and performance. Participates in planning work of assigned units and coordinates activities with other patient care units and related departments. Plans and organizes training for unit staff members and participates in guidance and educational programs. Provides direct patient care when necessary for specific patient age groups. Job Functions• Staff Development: Develops performance plans, identifies performance issues, manages performance and career development. Approves and contributes to in-service education programs for assigned staff. Candidates should have strong clinical experience in invasive cardiology, the ability to expand and develop these services, and the leadership skills necessary to develop and maintain a highly skilled team. This position reports to the Cardiovascular Service Line Director and is responsible for management of the cardiac catheterization team consisting of 17.4 FTEs including RNs, RTs and CCTs. RNs belong to the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA), and RTs and CCTs are members of SEIU 1199. CVPH has achieved a 2009 Healthgrades 5 star rating for its angioplasty program and is recognized to have high Healthgrades ratings for overall cardiac services. This position integrates the Cardiac Cath Lab with all cardiac services and is responsible for program development, selection of staff, development of protocols, and education/competency of staff. This position serves as a resource for and works closely with cardiovascular cath technologist, RNs, cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. This position works with patient care services to assure well coordinated, quality cardiac services. This position is responsible for scheduling, budget and financial accountability, integration of continuous quality improvement activities and customer relations. This position will assist with direct patient care as needed.CVPH is affiliated with St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY, a world-class cardiology program, in order to assure implementation of a successful program. Recently, St. Peters was recognized by the New York State Department of Health as having the lowest risk-adjusted death rate for heart bypass surgery in the state. It is also one of 14 hospitals in the nation to be ranked as a Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital by the Solucient Institute all four years the award has been given. CVPH first started its diagnostic cath program in 1990 and then expanded its cardiology program in late 2004 to include open-heart surgery and coronary angioplasty. This expansion plan is driven by the high incidence of heart disease in the North Country, and the lack of angioplasty and open-heart services north of a line from Albany to Syracuse. CVPH provides a high quality, cost effective service that is of great benefit to the areas overall health-care delivery system. Volumes have steadily grown since inception. Forecasts for 2010 are 1,400 caths, 160 cardiac surgeries, and 650 angioplasties. In January 2005 CVPH began an interventional cardiology program and started planning for a 2nd cath lab. That lab opened in March 2006 and by September of the same year was busy accommodating a full-line electrophysiology service. Volumes for 2007 are projected to be 1350 diagnostic procedures, 400 interventional procedures and 500 EP procedures. Each lab is equipped with a Philips Integris Allura Flat Panel X-Ray System as well as a Witt Hemodynamic Monitoring System. A 10 bay holding area is staffed and available to assist with patient prep and recovery. The electrophysiology service utilizes a Bard EP Monitoring System w/ Micropace Cardiac Stimulator. A Cryo Cath Ablation System, an RF generator and an EnSite 3-D Mapping System are available for EP procedures. Plans are underway for two additional labs: a dedicated EP lab and peripheral vascular/endovascular lab which will come on-line in 2009. CVPH is a non-profit, JCAHO accredited, regional center with over 2,100 employees providing care to 170,000 residents in northeast NY. Average daily census of 200 inpatients, plus 64 residents in nursing home unit, and a Medical Staff of over 150 physicians. 2007 stats: 12,287 admissions, 101,130 patient days, 1,048 births, 50,002 emergency department visits and 18,136 surgical procedures.
