The Endoscopy RN provides nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:Assesses, plans and evaluates the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after the procedure. Provides nursing care to the patient undergoing endoscopic procedures. Participates in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation. Carries out physician orders. Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care. Assesses and coordinates patients discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Provides age and culturally appropriate care. Orients and mentors new staff members. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Qualifications Required Job Qualifications include:Current licensure as an RN. Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.

To serve the needs of the health plan members and the other patients of the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Program. Under supervision is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nursing care activities with other health care disciplines.Essential Functions:- Assist with GI procedures, EGDs, ERCPs, etc.- Assist with Urology procedures- Assist with Bronchoscopy procedures- Take evening and weekend call, including holidays to assist with emergent GI procedures.- Assist with pulmonary procedures, bronchoscopies, etc.- Assist with other procedures and care of patients in the Unit, including but not limited to TEEs, cardioversions, etc.- Safely provide Procedural sedation.- Able to recognize cardiac rhythms and dysrhthmias.- Care for specialized equipment.- Demonstrate critical thinking and sound clinical judgment.- Leadership/Coordination Activities:- Precept and orient students or new employees.- Work independently assisting with physicians proceduresAble to perform:- Procedural sedation, including critical care needs- Perform multiple tasks- Performs accurate multi-system assessments, including; biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs and discharge planning needs.- Develops patient teaching plan and documents on care plan or teaching plan.- Appropriately delegates patient care activities based on patient�s condition and scope of practice of other health care providers.- Initiates appropriate measures in emergency situations.- Lifting and carrying:- Able to lift and carry at least 60 pounds unassisted and carry them for a distance of 50 feet.- May assist in the movement of patients and/or equipment whose weight may range from 100 to 300 pounds.- Bending: able to bend up to 60 times per shift, at both the waist and knees.- Walking: able to stand and/or walk for entire shift. They prepare patients for procedures, assist during procedures, monitor patients after their procedures and educate patients and their families upon discharge. The Clinical Nurse III consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizes her/his knowledge base and proficient skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others in the role of collegial consultant and resource person. She/he demonstrates motivation and creativity and serves as a catalyst changes within Nursing at the unit, service line and institutional levels. The Clinical Nurse III provides nursing care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the plan for Provision of Care to patients, CSMC Code of conduct, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan and Professional Organization Standards. She/he maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to as special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. He/she can identify the ability of patients to follow directions/instructions and give consent. He/she can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environment; and provide appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones.
