Shift Length: 10hrHours: 6:30am - 5pm Days: Monday - FridayShift Type: DayWeekends: As Needed Job Description: Cedars-Sinai Health System, GI Endoscopy Unit has an opening for a Nurse.The Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse III, as a professional practitioner, assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. The Clinical Nurse III consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizes her/his knowledge base and proficient skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others in the role of collegial consultant and resource person. She/he demonstrates motivation and creativity and serves as a catalyst changes within Nursing at the unit, service line and institutional levels. The Clinical Nurse III provides nursing care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the plan for Provision of Care to patients, CSMC Code of conduct, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan and Professional Organization Standards. She/he maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to as special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. He/she can identify the ability of patients to follow directions/instructions and give consent. He/she can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environment; and provide appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones. Education and Work Experience Preferences: Educational Requirements:A valid California Registered Nurse License.License/Certification/Registration Requirements:A valid BCLS, ACLS and PALS.Experience:Meets clinical criteria and protocol for Clinical Nurse III (minimum 18 months NP/RN experience).Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area.Physical Demands:The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions. Must be able to perform assigned duties in a demanding work environment.

Brack Endoscopy Responsibilities 1. Implements and documents the Nursing Process for population specific patient care delivery to include the complex patient/family. May function as Provider or RN-M based upon completion of competencies. 2. Participates in performance improvement/research activities. Participates in activities that promote improvement of patient care/patient satisfaction. Expands/shares knowledge of nursing practice. 3. Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Endoscopy, the Endoscopy Procedures Nurse is responsible for overseeing nursing care provided to patients during endoscopy procedures.Job Duties:Supervises personnel performing endoscopy procedures to ensure use of proper nursing and clerical techniques. Assists in scheduling endoscopy staff to ensure adequate coverage. Modifies nursing care plan of patient as appropriate. Monitors patient status following endoscopy procedure. Administers appropriate medication prior to endoscopy procedure. Assumes the charge position in the absence of the Endoscopy Nurse Manager. Maintains required CPR (ACLS). Position Description:Continually assesses and monitors the patient´s condition throughout the endoscopic or pain management procedures. Assures patient safety. Demonstrates an understanding of each procedure and the equipment indicated: sets up equipment needed for procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, sigmoidoscopy, bronchoscopy, pain management procedures, etc. Assists physician with biopsies, polypectomies, sphincterotomies, stone retrieval, stent placement, dilations, PEGS, cannulation of pancreatic and bile ducts, variceal sclerosis and other procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on an assigned unit in a safe and proficient manner according to individual patient needs. Provides direct patient care based upon South Austin Medical Center Hospital Standards of Care and Standards of Practice, Polices, Procedures and Practice Guidelines. Provides guidance and supervision to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Nursing Technicians, Nursing Assistants and Unit Secretaries. He/she acts as patient and advocate with the Hospital environment. Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities and accepts assignments on other units when necessary.40 hours per week; Flexible between Endo and Outpatient Surgery; Call every other day and approximately every third weekend.
