Functions and performs all technical aspects of nursing care within the framework of established policies and procedures of Charlotte Regional Medical Center. Responsible for managing care of assigned patients and guiding and directing the activities of ancillary staff. May function as charge nurse. Functions on the nursing unit as assistant to the physician.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Assesses and analyzes the health status of patients in assigned nursing unit in a comprehensive manner. Plans patient care on assigned unit in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team. Directs and implements patient care activities on assigned unit to ensure the delivery of quality care. Adheres to standards established in the nursing department proficiency program. Evaluates quality and effectiveness of patient care and nursing activities. Responsible for the maintenance and management of the nursing unit on a shift-to-shift basis. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth. Where appropriate, performs population(s) served patient assessment demonstrating awareness of growth and development for each age group. Demonstrates knowledge of population(s) served assessment, recognizing psychosocial levels and development patterns. Provides for age appropriate stimulation and learning needs. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Actively participates in such organizations/associations and provides feedback on relevant programs in a timely manner.QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Florida license. Associate Degree or Diploma required. BLS. Six to twelve months experience preferred. New-nurse orientation is provided by the staff education department. Additional orientation for new nurses is provided on the nursing unit utilizing the structure/competency checklist. Satisfactorily completes BKAT testing.
