Northside is part of the HCA West Florida Division of Hospitals, a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery and diagnostic imaging facilities, and a complete continuum of specialized healthcare programs that meet the healthcare needs of residents and businesses in West and Central Florida communities. The HCA network of hospitals offers a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and care of spine injuries, neck and back problems. Spine Injuries can be the result of sudden trauma or be unrelentingly degenerative. Whatever the cause of a patient´s spine injury, when the time comes to push back against the pain, the Spine Care Center Team at Northside Hospital is ready to join the fight. You won´t find more resources anywhere in the region to provide an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan to restore the physical ailments and rebuild confidence. Medical Teams affiliated with the Spine Care Centers include some of the area´s most dedicated neurosurgeons, orthopedic spine surgeons, experts in pain management, and specialists in physical medicine as well as physical therapy and rehabilitation.The Orthopedic/Spine Center is located on the first floor of Northside Hospital. Specially designed rooms (some private) provide the comfort and amenities usually found in luxury hotels, including:- Gourmet patient and family meals- In-room flat screen televisions with cable- Wireless internet access for personal computer use- In-room furniture for patient and family comfort - Number of Staff: 15- Skill Mix: RNs, Patient Care Assistants/Certified Nursing Assistants, Monitor Technician/Unit Secretary (day shift only), Student Nurses- Major Equipment Used: IV pumps, IVAC, Dinamaps, Dopplers, Lifting Equipment, Accu-Check, Accu-Dose, Crash Cart, Telemetry Monitors at desk- Special Certifications: American Heart Association BLS and ACLS required.- Special Competencies/Skills Needed: Prior nursing experience required; prior Spine and/or Orthopedic experience preferred- Schedules: 12-hour shifts (7-7); Full Time is considered 36 hours per week, including every other weekend- Dress code: Tasteful scrubs (individual provides their own). As of 9/1/2010, royal blue scrubs will be required for all RN/LPN staff.- Complete computerized charting for patient assessment and care documentation (charting by exception) through the Meditech system.- Electronic medication administration record (eMAR) is used for the delivery of all medications provided to patients More options. Required Job Qualifications include:- Current licensure as an RN.- Current certification as a BLS and ACLS Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association.- Previous acute care RN experience REQUIRED. Prior med/surg/ortho/spine experience desired.- Prior EKG/Telemetry training desired.- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
