Using the latest endovascular, computer-guided, endoscopic, stereotactic and percutaneous techniques, the team is dedicated to providing excellent service to their adult and pediatric patients. This experienced mid-level provider:XPerforms under Neuroscience attending supervision (or in collaboration with) diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the surgeon to extend his/her services through the more effective use of his/her knowledge in the sphere of decision making required to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy -Assists in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the surgeon/physician.-Acts as a patient advocate in the medical care system, serving as confidant, advisor and liaison between patients and physicians. Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: -First or second assist for neurosurgeons in the pre and post-operative care of patients (includes setting-up the OR)-Participation in the call and rotation schedule includes all shifts, weekends and holidays.-Performs H&Ps and Discharge summaries.-Executes and relays medical regimens as directed by the supervising physician and/or as described in the work agreement between the physician assistant and the supervising physician.-Assists in all aspects of inpatient and outpatient care. -Informs neuroscience attending of medically significant changes in patients condition.-Confirms operating schedule and summarizes appropriate data prior to surgery. -Accurate and complete charting including the electronic medical record.The successful midlevel provider reports directly to the Co-Directors of the Neuroscience Institute for all clinical related responsibilities. He/she reports directly to the Chief Mid-level Provider, Neuroscience or in absence, Operations Manager, Neuroscience for all non-clinical administrative responsibilities. The successful Physician Assistant candidate requires completion of a CAAHEP-approved physician assistant program, NCCPA certification or eligibility through Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine licensure. Experience in Neurosurgery, Critical Care or Neuroscience is preferred.The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. He/she must be certified to work with all patient population age groups. Experience in Neurosurgery, Critical Care or Neuroscience is preferredOur successful candidate will have a strong desire to work with the Neuroscience patients and their families.
