Additional responsibilities include participation in staff development, research, and disseminating community education for Hyperbaric Medicine services. The incumbent is accountable for initial patient consultation and evaluation, subsequent follow up during and after treatment course, and for managed care provided within a multi-disciplinary team setting for adults and children needing Hyperbaric medicine services. Effective clinical interpersonal skills and ability to problem solve. Ability to function independently, quickly and efficiently under stress of time constraints. Ability to cover 1/3 of the clinical on-call. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, employees, managers and patients. Ability to contribute to strategic departmental planning, including developing and proposing budget recommendations, research development, education, and patient care. Documents and coordinates care with other health care providers, collaborates with the medical and surgical staff when appropriate effective, timely, and accurate patient records in accordance with hospital and statutory requirements to ensure that all care given, observations made, and significant transactions are documented in order to facilitate safe effective plans, treatment, and decision making.Serves as an integrated member of the medical staff with specific emphasis on the specialty of hyperbaric medicine. Executes all functions (permitted by licensure and hospital credentialing) related to the primary care/medical management of assigned patients and their families in an inpatient and outpatient setting. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the following age groups: neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric. Works collaboratively, within a multi/interdisciplinary framework, under the direct supervision of an attending physician to provide direct medical management for a panel of patients with medical disorders that may or do require hyperbaric medicine.Coordinates research and community education under the direction of the medical and administrative directors of Hyperbaric Medicine; participates in development of a comprehensive quality assurance plan and criteria-based skill level educational process for all clinically practicing HBO2 patients. Initiates and participates in clinical research to improve quality of care of individuals needing Hyperbaric medicine.Acts as case manager for patients receiving HBO2 and manages the direction of patient care to ensure that care is provided in an efficient and productive manner. Provides specialized care to patients with a broad spectrum of illness/problems which require monitoring and multiple interventions.Accurately and completely documents both inpatient and outpatient interactions consistent with the license in ´advanced practice´ and prescriptive privilege as defined by the State Board of Nursing, State Licensing Board, and the Controlled Substances Act, and as permitted by licensure and hospital credentialing. Oversees the development of policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care by adhering to general hospital practices, clinical procedures as technical advances are made in the specialty of hyperbaric medicine; and following the standards published by the UHMS, the Hyperbaric Medicine Department of LDS Hospital, JCAHO, and all applicable state and federal regulationsPlans and directs all activities pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment, management and evaluation of Hyperbaric patients who are referred to this facility, in order to ensure the provision of appropriate high quality health care.Collaborates with hospital committees to assure that education, research, and ethical decisions are maintained and provided in accordance with the needs of patients, family and staff. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisors. Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure with prescriptive practice in the State of Utah or License EligibleCPR/Healthcare Provider CardMinimum 1 yr NP experience; Prefer at least 3 years or more experienceStrongly prefer work experience in Wound Care or Hyperbaric Medicine
