The Postpartum RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:Assesses, plans and evaluates patient care needs. Carries out physician orders.Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, monitors vital signs.Provides post-anesthesia recovery care for the patient.Assesses and fosters patient-infant bonding.Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. Instructs and educates patients and families.Assesses and coordinates patients discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.Provides age and culturally appropriate care.Orients and mentors new staff members.Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Qualifications Required Job Qualifications include:Current Kansas licensure as an RN.Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider and NRP.Must have at least one year of current experience in Mother Baby Nursing or Labor and Delivery.Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.

Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, this facility is in the city of some of the most popular Outlet Malls in Texas. We are also the home of Texas State University and one of the largest natural springs in Texas. Centrally located to several water parks, outdoor malls, theaters, along the Guadalupe River that provides a venue for many water sports.On September 4, 2008,(expected opening November 2009) this facility broke ground on a $35 Million expansion project that will include a 2-story 64,000 square foot addition for a total of 139 private beds. The expansion will create a new Surgery Suite with 6 operating rooms and 36 Medical/Surgical Cardiac-Monitored beds.
