This registered nurse position is in a busy outpatient clinic. The individual must be competent in providing direct patient care to a group of patients, young adults through senescence, with a variety of mental health and substance abuse diagnoses. The successful candidates are professionals who manage the care of the mentally ill patients through collaboration with nursing staff, physicians, and other health care professionals. This individual needs to have excellent assessment skills, and be able to multi-task and problem solve while working at a high level of independent functioning. This individual will be responsible for a clinic for veterans and needs to have extensive knowledge of how to manage and interview veterans who are suicidal, homicidal, intoxicated and or psychotic. This individual will need excellent telecommunication assessment skills and will handle frequent phone calls from veterans and conduct follow-up care for patients on medications and treatments. This individual will also be responsible for the injection clinic. This individual will need to be a team player and will collaborate daily with staff throughout this facility. The individual must have extensive knowledge of psychiatric medications for medication teaching and medication management. Registered Nurses participate as a member of the interdisciplinary intake and evaluation teams for individuals making application to and seeking continuing developmental disability services. The Registered Nurse will provide nursing services, including written assessments, updates, technical assistance and consultation.
