The dominant focus of service delivery is crisis and urgent assessment and treatment for children and adolescents under the age of 16 (and their families) who present with mental health difficulties such as: mood disorders, depression, suicidal behaviour, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, psychotic disorders, eating disorders and acute symptoms of distress. The inpatient service offers short-term stabilization admissions, inpatient assessments of urgent mental health problems presenting in crisis, and coordination with community resources for follow up treatment planning.The RN works with a multidisciplinary team ensuring practice is based in theory, ensuring practice is evidence based and meets all relevant standards and guidelines as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
