Its no wonder that lots of people say they simply love it here.Please consider joining us in the following role:Operations Manager - Pharmacy ServicesConcord Hospital, Concord, New Hampshire Under the general direction of the Director of Pharmacy Services, this position is responsible for the operational management of the Pharmacy Services department by supervising professional and technical staff in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. This position manages one subordinate supervisor who supervises approximately 33 Pharmacy Technicians and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. In addition, directly supervises approximately 20-25 Pharmacists, Pharmacy Interns and students. The Operations Manager will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.The manager also supervises the distributive functions of the inpatient pharmacy including formulary management, medication ordering and distribution, sterile products manufacturing, unit dose preparation, medication storage, unit inspections, drug delivery systems and workload data retrieval and reporting. Supervises interactions between pharmacy personnel and other hospital departments, patients, and the public, to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. This position also assists the Director in Human Resource related activities for the department including hiring, training, competency, retention, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions. Establishes, maintains, and reviews all departmental policies and procedures and assists in the development of departmental goals and objectives, in accordance with the hospitals strategic plan. Reviews, assists in developing, and maintains technology and automated systems. Provides drug information to physicians, nurses and patients as well as participates in medication usage evaluations for physicians and administrative purposes, and medication monitoring for patient safety. Assists in the development of quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the Pharmacy. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures for drug usage and security in the institution, in accordance with the State Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Joint Commission, and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) laws and regulations.Ensures accurate record keeping and security precautions for personnel and inventory, safe storage of inventory, and oversees audits of controlled substances and drugs. In addition, ensures that inventory levels of needed drugs and supplies are readily available, proper storage condition is maintained and products are used effectively for cost control and cost avoidance. As needed, the Manager will perform the duties of a Staff Pharmacist, participate on hospital and medical staff committees and perform the duties of the Director of Pharmacy Services, in his/her absence. Develops workable implementation plans; communicates changes effectively; builds commitment and overcomes resistance; prepares and supports those affected by change; and monitors transition and evaluates results. This position will also look for ways to improve and promote quality as well as work within an approved budget.A Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy required; graduate degree in pharmacy or business preferred. Licensed Pharmacist in the State of New Hampshire required: PharmD preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in an acute care setting and three to five years of progressively responsible experience in a hospital pharmacy is also required. The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations as well as the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is essential. The capability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public is needed.
