As Humana´s RightSource I Pharmacist in charge (PIC) you will be responsible at the mail service pharmacy as the pharmacist named on the facility pharmacy permit and as required on the facility non-resident permits. The PIC has the responsibility for ensuring, and the authority to ensure, that the site complies with all state and federal laws and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy. The authority of other management is subject to state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations and the policies and procedures approved by the site PIC. Any and all changes to pharmacy equipment, operations, policies and procedures must be approved by the site PIC. The most important duty is to ensure that pharmacy is practiced in a safe, lawful, ethical, and professional manner at all times. The PIC is responsible for the professional peer review process, pharmacy quality assurance, process compliance, training and development of pharmacists and technicians, professional licensure of the pharmacy, pharmacists, and technicians, and communication of professional issues to pharmacists and technicians. Additionally, the pharmacist in charge will promptly escalate any known compliance issues, and work in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy Professional Practice, and other pharmacy practice leaders to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. The Site General Manager is responsible for making all non-professional business and operational decisions, and will work in collaboration with the PIC on patient safety, client satisfaction, and regulatory needs. The PIC is a key member of the pharmacy leadership team and participates in all business and operational decisions regarding the pharmacy so as to ensure that such decisions are aligned with lawful and ethical pharmacy practice. Responsibilities: -Ensures that pharmacy is practiced in a safe, lawful, ethical, and professional manner at all times, including, but not limited to, all aspects of prescription processing (from data entry to shipping/fulfillment/manifesting), regulatory/inspection requirements, record keeping, pharmacy security (including drug inventory security), holding pharmacists and technicians accountable for professional quality of their work (quality governance) up to and including disciplinary action and termination of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians (within Human Resources guidelines), and professional licensure of the pharmacy, pharmacists and technicians, Responsible for timely reporting of all non-compliance issues. -Read the domicile state rules and regulations at least annually. Read the Pharmacist´s DEA Manual at least annually. Keep updated on industry trends and state and federal regulations so as to ensure compliance. Attend all state Board of Pharmacy meetings. Represent the mail service pharmacy at state Board of Pharmacy meetings for procedural, regulatory changes or disciplinary actions as needed. -Is a member of the site leadership team and actively participates in business and operational decisions. Ensures the site´s operational and business decisions are compatible with patient safety, lawful, and ethical pharmacy practice. -With the cooperation of site management, is responsible for QA in the pharmacy. PIC assesses and tracks all pharmacy QA policies, procedures, projects, metrics, and activities, in support of QA outcomes so as to ensure patient safety, lawful, and ethical pharmacy practice at the site. -Manage 1 direct report responsible for Quality Assurance, Accreditation, and licensure/permitting. Role Essentials The ideal candidate should have met the following education and training: • Licensed pharmacist with Pharm.D. degree • 5 years operational experience managing Mail Order Drug Distribution. • Licensure in the following states: Arizona, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, Oregon, and Tennessee (OR minimally an unrestricted pharmacist license and willingness to reciprocate to additional states).
