As part of the The Methodist Hospital System, Methodist Willowbrook Hospital was specifically designed to provide comprehensive, personalized care for the community.Description:The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist in the preparation of medication for dispensing and administration to patients. The Technician receives medication orders, performs data entry functions, prepares and labels medications for dispensing, delivers medication to patient care areas, performs drug inventory functions in dispensing areas, fills medications for automated dispensing units, maintains and processes medication charges for services rendered, and performs quality control activities related to overall Pharmacy operations.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Must be a high school graduate or have high school equivalency; at least two years of college preferred but not required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS - Must satisfactorily test out or complete a three month training program which includes classroom and practical experience to learn the technical skills needed to prepare medication accurately and correctly. - Must have completed a 40-hour course in IV admixture training provided by an ACPE provider, or obtain 40-hours of IV training in a structured on-the-job training program. Must complete a process validation test during the training period, annually, and whenever the Department´s quality assurance/improvement program yields an unacceptable result or unacceptable techniques are observed. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED - Must be certified as a pharmacy technician and maintain certification required by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. - Must maintain current registration as required by law. - Must satisfy horizontal and/or vertical hood certification requirements. - CPR certification preferred.
