Department and position overview:Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations, this is a key leadership role for Elliot Health System, and will oversee a highly progressive and technologically advanced pharmacy department, encompassing inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, as well as our employee retail pharmacy. You will appreciate the Pharmacy Departments efficiency with our decentralized environment, in which pharmacists reside on the nursing floors, and within the ED; this approach will continue within surgical services, too. We are seeking a strong leader to oversee the entire pharmacy department, to maintain and enhance existing programs, and to initiate new programs and services. This individual will complete the roll out of the medication reconciliation initiative, enhance our Pharmacy Residency program, assist with changing our Automated Dispensing Machines to the McKesson brand, continue the physician practice medication management education initiative, as well as many other challenging and exciting projects. The incumbent will develop and foster positive and collaborative relationships within Pharmacy, as well as with other departments, and will mentor and develop the pharmacy staff to maximize their capabilities, while empowering them and providing them the support and resources. The incumbent will identify and analyze potential clinical and business development opportunities, and collaborating with other staff, will participate in the execution of such initiatives and strategies. Qualifications:- Pharm. D. degree or a B.S. degree with extensive post graduate training from an institution accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education is required. - Must have 5+ years of health care pharmacy experience and 3+ years of pharmacy management background.- Strong business acumen, program and business development experience, and excellent leadership skills are required; must be a risk-taker, and be able to work well both independently, as well as in a team oriented environment. - Must have knowledge of JCAHO standards and regulations to ensure departmental compliance.- Must be forward thinking and a visionary.- Skilled at strategic planning and performance improvement- Exceptional interpersonal skills to partner with staff at all levels within the department and throughout the organization.- Strong technical capabilities Elliot Health System offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package.The department staffs approximately 50 FTEs, and this individual will oversee 8+- direct reports, including Pharmacists, a Nurse, a Clinical Coordinator, an Operations Manager, Employee Retail Manager, Purchasing Agent, and Informatics Specialists (specific and unique to pharmacy). We are looking for a great people leader who cares about their staff and has the ability to relate to all constituencies within the organization to partner effectively with and to ensure high productivity within the department, and smooth operations of existing, new, and cutting edge programs and technology, including our robotic fill and delivery cart. Working collaboratively with other leaders and team members, you will bring the pharmacy department to the next level, and will capture, organize and benchmark quality improvement data pertaining to patient service excellence.
