Position Summary: Under general supervision, is responsible for interpretation of physicians orders, review of patient therapy, dispensing of appropriate ordered medications and performs all operational duties necessary within the inpatient and satellite services. Interprets medication order for appropriateness of therapy, drug, route, frequency and duration. Consults with prescriber when clarification is required. Required Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy or Foreign Pharmacy Equivalent Certification approved by NABP. Current D.C. license as a Pharmacist or eligible for license by examination or reciprocity. Current D.C. license as a Pharmacist or eligible for license by examination or reciprocity. Required Experience: At least one year as a Pharmacist in a hospital setting preferred. Good communication skills; ability to provide direction to others; ability to work under stress. Ability to perform computerized procedures. Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups; geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonate. Must demonstrate knowledge in the relationship of age and the proper selection of drugs and drug pharmacokinetics in various age groups. Annual performance appraisals will measure the level of knowledge and skills maintained through the use of criteria based job standards. Employees must maintain a satisfactory level of knowledge and skills to continue employment.

Position Summary: Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of available resources by coordinating patients pharmaceutical needs with the prescribers and nurses. Manages distribution or dispensing of chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy medications in a safe and efficient manner according to department policy. The major job responsibilities of this position are: leadership, drug distribution, clinical intervention, teaching, training and continuing education. Position Summary: Responsible for the administration, coordination and supervision of research pharmaceutical services at GUH. Coordinates all aspects of pharmaceutical needs for patients participating in investigational protocols and receiving chemotherapeutic and non-chemotherapeutic agents including but not limited to: implementation and distribution of medication order and investigational drugs, devices, and biologics order; provide assurance of appropriate dose, route, frequency and duration of therapy; review patient medication profiles for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, drug allergy interactions and appropriate regimens; coordinate patients pharmaceutical needs with physicians and nurses. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetowns philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Required Education/Training: Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. degree, Masters or Pharm. D. degree. Current DC license as a Pharmacist or eligible for licensure by examination or reciprocity.Required Experience: Minimum of two to four years as a research/investigational drug services pharmacist. Some supervisory experience is preferred. Extensive knowledge of the theory and practice of research pharmacy service, good written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate and maintain knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care for patients participating in research protocols that involve the use of drugs, biologics, and devices in the following age groups: geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonate. Must demonstrate knowledge in understanding of changes in physiology in various age groups, understanding of drug pharmacokinetics and toxicities in various age groups, and understanding of proper selection of drugs.
