Duties:Support of outpatient OR INPATIENT pharmacy operations, serving over 500 patients & dispensing over 1,200 prescriptions daily in at least 3 different locations within Ft. Riley. Support of inpatient OR OUTPATIENT pharmacy operations, serving in-house patients in a 44 bed community hospital. Applies professional knowledge, experience, & specialized training to carry out a wide range of duties to include monitoring of inpatient pharmacy orders & maintaining professional liaison between hospital staff, physicians, & Pharmacy Service. Studies work methods, establishes procedures, schedules work, & integrates external requirements to meet overall objectives of efficient & timely service to staff & patients. NOTE: Work in the IV Additives area requires the use of aseptic techniques. There is possible exposure to toxic chemicals when working with chemotherapeutic agents, which requires special techniques and the use of the biological safety cabinet, as well as wearing latex gloves and a gown. NOTE: Tour of duty may include rotating evening, weekend and holiday shifts. Qualifications:One year of specialized professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level; or successful completion of a 6-year course of study leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) recognized by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education. Specialized experience is defined as providing drug counseling to patients and medical staff; checking prescriptions prior to dispensing for completeness, validity and errors; formulating, compounding and preparing sterile solutions of a variety of chemicals and drugs; or other work in or related to the position being filled. LICENSURE: All applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
