Director of Hospitalist Medicine - University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview
We are seeking a proven physician leader to continue to develop and lead one of the top academic inpatient general medicine programs in the country. In this leadership position:Clinical activities: The Director will lead and participate in clinical activities, including 16 weeks/year of inpatient activity. This includes managing care activities involving medical students, residents, faculty, and Fairview-employed hospitalists. As a working physician within the group, the directors cares for patients in partnership with colleagues, ensures coordination of care among all services, teaching and non-teaching, oversees the group to ensure all standards of medical practice as well as exceptional service standards are achieved.Administrative leadership and academic appointment: 50 percent of the director´s effort is devoted to development, recruitment, and leadership of inpatient medicine program at the medical center (35 percent administrative leadership of program and 15 percent developing educations curriculum/program innovations). As an administrative leader, the director interacts with leadership at the medical center and within the medical school to design and execute recruitment and retention plans, ensure all patient care objectives are achieved and maintain the financial viability of the program. This position also is a faculty appointment in the University of Minnesota Department of Medicine and requires academic leadership of the hospitalist program, oversight of the hospitalist fellowship programs and local and national visibility within hospital and general medicine organizations. Requirements: Licensed in Minnesota, board certified in internal medicine, minimum 5 years practice experience. Must possess superb communication skills and ability to facilitate two-way communication at all levels of the organization, demonstrated leadership ability, objectivity, ability to influence and motivate others and have proven abilities as a change agent.
