This general acute-care facility is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The recently expanded medical center offers services that include surgical, neonatal, and intensive care. In 2007 a Heart and Vascular Institute was part of a multi-million dollar investment, allowing MCSA to provide the highest quality of care to its community and residents. Since 1996 the Medical Center of South Arkansas has made $40 million in improvements. Most medical specialties are represented, including Neurology, Hospitalists, and Cardiovascular Surgery. The Emergency Department provides care to over 16,000 patients annually and has a service area of over 100,000.
