Moonlighting opportunity for in-house trauma coverage at Saint Francis Hospital, Resurrection Health Care, in Evanston Illinois. The trauma cases directed to Saint Francis Hospital result in approximately 375 trauma surgeries each year. Most of these cases are related to motor vehicle accidents, although violence and work related accidents are also commonplace.Saint Francis Hospital patients come primarily from 11 zip codes within the communities of Evanston, Skokie, Lincolnwood and Chicago. Saint Francis Hospital also draws patients from Morton Grove, and the far northern suburbs of Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park and Glenview.The candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be board eligible/certified in general surgery and ATLS certified. Opportunity open to physicians with additional specialties in vascular, colorectal, critical care, and advanced laparoscopic surgery.Physicians will evaluate, diagnose, admit and manage trauma patients of all ages including resuscitation, surgical intervention and coordination of operative procedures.Hours:Monday to Friday. 12 hour shifts - 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday 24 hour shifts - 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.Salary and Malpractice Insurance Coverage.Saint Francis Hospital is also a leader in Medical Education. There are 36 hours of physician coverage / day (12 hour shifts) plus 36 hours of resident coverage.Provena St. Marys , located in Kankakee, is a 189 bed acute care hospital with level 2 Trauma designation and 30,000 annual visits.
