The medical director is responsible for decisions relating to and the implementation of medical diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, quality assurance and medication management for Apex Behavioral Healthcare.
The medical Director provides outpatient psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and adults, including, but not limited to, assessment/evaluation, diagnosis, medication clinics/checks, and consultation with other mental health professionals/agencies and collaboration with primary care physicians. Position will be 80% direct care with the ability to review community support plans and 20% medical supervision/administrative/training responsibility. Part time providers have the ability to maintain private practice in conjunction with medical directorship. RESPONSIBILITIESAppropriate documentation of all activities, membership in interdisciplinary treatment teams, and contribution to the continuing development of a thriving mental health/substance abuse community provider. Supervision of and guidance to medical staff, including, but not limited to, service delivery systems, identification of current and emerging evidence based practices, design of treatment protocols, staff training, oversight of quality management, and supervision of other medical support staff.COMPETENCIESExcellent oral and written communication skills, ability and desire to work independently, strong organizational skills, comfortable working with technology, diligent use of good judgment in client care and treatment coordination, and continuing education regarding best practices in psychiatry.REQUIREMENTS-Medical Doctor with ASAM certification or Board Eligible or Board Certified Psychiatrist-NC licensure or ability to be licensed prior to July 1, 2010.
