Physician Consultant with Nationwide Opportunities
Workplace Behavioral Solutions, Inc. (WBS) is looking for Consulting Physicians for our new Physician Wellness Services (PWS) division. As a Consulting Physician, you will work closely with physicians who have been referred to our Intervention Services program due to behavioral or performance concerns raised by supervisors, colleagues or patients. Working as part of this multi-disciplinary team, you will assist in the assessment of physician clients for a variety of behavioral, work and personal issues that might be impacting their work performance and causing disruptive behavior, and make recommendations for changes, improvements or additional clinical or therapeutic help to enable them to meet their organizations requirements in an appropriate manner. You may also coach fellow physicians around personal and work-related stressors and offer a physicians perspective to the identified concerns. Working with a multi-disciplinary team involved in the intake, assessment and recommendation process, you will provide mentoring or supervision to other physicians. Giving preference to applicants with an active medical practice, some administrative experience in a clinical setting and an interest in providing CME-eligible training on topics related to the PWS suite of services, flexible scheduling to meet with physician clients within three working days of an accepted referral is a necessary. You will require assertiveness to provide constructive feedback to customers and clients as well as addressing potentially resistant physicians. Knowledge of behavioral health concerns, including chemical dependency and anger management and the ability to provide coaching and consultation to practice administrators in the area of dealing with disruptive physicians is important. Consulting Psychiatrists who are part of this program will perform similar duties. You will not conduct a full psychiatric evaluation as part of the initial screening process and/or within the scope of the PWS contract. A successful candidate will have at least ten years of post-residency practice of medicine, with both clinical and administrative/managerial experience. You need an active license to practice medicine and in good standing with practicing states medical board. You will have convenient scheduling options, up to and including an electronic calendar made available to PWS and access to professional office space to meet with physician clients, and/or willingness to travel to PWS-designated office space. Possess strong technology and computer skills and the ability and willingness to handle own administrative tasks. You will not provide medical or mental health diagnoses or create a physician/patient relationship, although you may refer clients to physicians, mental or behavioral health professionals for treatment, in consultation with other PWS staff. Physician Intervention Services assists organizations in effectively and compassionately aiding individual physicians who have performance issues, and/or engage in disruptive behavior, with customized approaches to identifying and dealing with problems at multiple levels. Training and consulting services allow organizations to obtain qualified help and advice in areas as diverse as dealing with workplace conflict, to setting and implementing effective HR policies and procedures for all staff members, to achieving work and life balance.
