Named one of the next 50 towns to live in by National Geographic Adventure, it is a not-so-rural community of 50,000 people. Medical Economics magazine lists Oregon as the sixth best state for physicians to practice medicine and the city is listed as the Best Town You´ve Never Heard of in Oregon. It is located at the base of the beautiful Cascades Mountains. At 4,000 feet above sea level, it offers four seasons, mild climate, affordable housing, arts, theater, and culture. The community is easily navigable, with brief commutes. To travel farther afield, commuter flights go to San Francisco and Portland several times per day.
