The University of South Dakota, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is seeking a board eligible or board certified psychiatrist for a clinical/faculty position. The physician will join Avera University Psychiatry Associates, a group of 17 psychiatrists, 5 psychologists, 2 nurse practitioners, 1 physician assistant, and 3 social workers. The providers are employed by Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center and receive a generous benefit package.Duties include comprehensive treatment of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings and the teaching and supervising of medical students, general psychiatry residents and child & adolescent psychiatry residents. Research experience is desirable. Positions are open at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Avera Behavioral Health Center, a new 110-bed inpatient facility was built in 2006 and features programs to care for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. The Avera Behavioral Health Center is also home to the Avera Institute for Human Behavioral Genetics, which includes research scientists, a genetics lab dedicated to psychiatry, advanced technological capabilities for genetic research, and a CyP450 machine for liver enzyme testing. There is also a strong emphasis on telepsychiatry and interactive distance learning services. Avera McKennan is a Magnet Hospital and a Distinguished Clinical Hospital.
