The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago is seeking a Section Chief for Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The candidate should have a proven record of academic excellence as well as a commitment to excellence in patient care and medical education. Additionally, the successful candidate will have an MD or MD/PhD, hold or be eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois, be BC/BE in Pediatrics and BC/BE in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The successful applicant will be a recognized leader in Pediatric Emergency medicine and be responsible for the supervision and development of clinical service, educational and research activities for the members of the Section. The University of Chicago Comer Children´s Hospital is a 155-bed facility with state of the art technology and amenities that offers world-class medical care to children from around the Chicago area and across the globe. The Pediatric Emergency Department, the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the south side of Chicago, treats more than 35,000 patients a year. It is a free-standing state-of-the-art facility comprised of 22 general exam rooms, two procedure rooms, two triage rooms and two trauma/resuscitation rooms.
