Lexington Hospitalists only practice on the larger – Altoona Hospital campus. As a regional health care system, ARHS is a level II trauma center and provides the following regional services: open heart surgery and cardiac care, neurosurgery, cancer center, JCAHO accredited stroke center, behavioral health, vascular & wound care. The medical staff is comprised of over 300 primary care and medical and surgical specialists. The average daily census per hospitalist is 18 – 20 patients and the Group provides physician extender support – physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
