A successful, experienced board-certified otolaryngologist needs to replace his colleague who has relocated, to retain the sinus surgery volume performed by this surgeon. A strong oncology background would be a plus, as a significant volume of head and neck cancer cases is performed. Opportunity exists for the new surgeon to build a successful practice including these and other surgeries and by expanding into other communities in response to requests from local hospitals.The recruiting physician sees 18-25 patients in a full day in the office and performs 20-25 surgeries per month. The practice has over 4000 patient visits per year. It is expected that the new doctor will equal or exceed these volumes. The practice, located in a medical building that includes outpatient surgical suites, has three exam rooms, two audiology rooms and a procedure room that can double as an exam room. Staff includes an RN, a PA and an Audiologist.Qualified candidates will be residency-trained and BE/BC in otolaryngology. The physician selected will be interested in a broad-based general ENT practice and strongly motivated to extend the scope of the practice through sinus and cancer surgeries and expansion. He/she will be hard-working and affable, with strong clinical, surgical and patient-relations skills.Compensation will consist of a salary in the $275,000 to $325,000 range with bonus potential. Benefits include health and malpractice insurance, profit-sharing, three weeks vacation, CME and other allowances. Partnership will be available after two years with buy-in to be negotiated.The BCHS main campus includes a 204-private room secondary level hospital, an ambulatory care center, an ICU with twenty private rooms, a neurodiagnostic center, a wound clinic with two hyperbaric chambers, catheterization lab, a surgery center and a cancer center including radiation oncology and PET. Satellite locations include a psychiatric facility, sleep lab, open-MRI, hospice and urgent care clinic. EMR and CPOE have been implemented, 24-hour EM, radiology and anesthesia are available. BCHS is JCAHO-accredited and ranks in the top 5% nationally for patient safety. Its primary care service area is about 188,000 and the specialty market area, which includes six primary care hospitals, is over 325,000.Battle Creek is a city of about 58,000 in a metropolitan area of over 100,000. It offers abundant recreation, entertainment and cultural activities, excellent schools, affordable housing and convenient location. The city is about 120 miles from Detroit and 170 miles from Chicago. Three major universities and seven small colleges are within an hours drive. Its economic base includes Kellogg Corporation, W. K. Kellogg Foundation and federal government facilities.
