The Division of Gastroenterology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking a nationally renowned physician investigator to lead a strong existing section of Hepatology. The individual must have established research credentials and a track record of recruitment and retention of faculty and program building. Clinical experience in transplant hepatology is essential. With a 779-bed hospital, it is the largest academic center in Virginia, has Magnet designation, a Level I Trauma Center, an NCIS designated Cancer Center and an exceptionally collegial team of nationally and internationally recognized faculty.The VCUHS Endoscopy Laboratory has 6 GI procedure rooms, one with fixed digital fluoroscopy. Approximately seven thousand procedures are performed annually. Along with conventional EGD, ERCP, linear and radial EUS, the institution offers a remarkable breadth of procedures including cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy, laser, and double balloon enteroscopy. The laboratory is housed in the same building as our Minimally Invasive Surgery Center, where faculty and trainees can acquire and refine laparoscopic and other minimally invasive skills. Our 27-person staff includes leaders in the SGNA. There is an established position for advanced fellowship training in interventional endoscopy. The successful candidate will be a BC/BE gastroenterologist with interest and expertise in a domain related to endoscopy that complements our group. Outcomes, novel technology, esophageal disorders, motility, GI malignancies are some examples. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the endosopy unit and in promoting the institution on regional, national and international levels.
