Cedars-Sinai Health Associates (CSHA) is a multispecialty IPA responsible for 35,000 commercial members. Formed in 1994, CSHA has more than 600 physician members in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles communities. CSHA is currently seeking a Medical Director with extensive experience in medical management, utilization review, incorporation of evidence-based guidelines, and physician coaching. The Medical Director will spend significant time in the field working with the physicians on referral protocols, establishing systems for collaboration and communication amongst specialties, improving clinical outcomes, and monitoring resource utilization. The Medical Director will recommend changes to organizational policy, physician rosters, and reimbursement formulae to ensure that CSHA has appropriate incentives in place and the best systems to encourage quality.Specific responsibilities include:Establishing and implementing a physician performance standards programOngoing evaluation of physician referral patterns to ensure the most efficient and effective use of resourcesPhysician coaching and developmentEvaluation of key indicators (medical loss ratio, efficiency scores, bed days, etc.) to recommend changes to policy or systems Putting systems in place to maximize the organizations potential on all Pay for Performance measuresWork closely with primary care, specialty and hospitalist physicians to improve the overall coordination of careCollaborate with the Chief Medical Officer and administrative team on process improvement, new program development, and organizational initiatives.Ideal Candidate will possess the following qualities:Ability to coach and mentor physiciansWell versed on the current market forces affecting IPAsExtensive experience in medical/utilization managementOutstanding leadership skills to includeoGroup presentations and public speakingoEffective team leadershipoPhysician motivationoConflict resolutionoData analysis and interpretationoDesigning incentive plansoPrioritization and balance of multiple and sometimes competing organizational needsoEffective delegationCandidate will have minimum of 5 years medical leadership experience and knowledgeable in managed careCedars-Sinai Health Associates offers a competitive salary, an excellent benefits package.
