Civilian Physician Gastroenterology position immediately available at the Internal Medicine Department, Gastroenterology Division, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California. Performs general and specific duties below:Provides treatment within the personnel and equipment capabilities of the Medical Treatment Facility; Provides Inpatient and outpatient interventional and therapeutic Gastroenterology care and services; Performs mandated surveillance and preventive services; Performs quality and timely documentation of treatment records and reports. Performs a full range of Gastroenterology services, within the scope of clinical privileges. The workload occurs as a result of scheduled and unscheduled requirements for care. Provides comprehensive consultation, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatobiliary, and nutritional diseases. In addition, performs a full range of gastroenterology procedures as follows:Colonoscopy, including biopsy and polypectomy; Diagnostic abdominal laparoscopy (peritoneoscopy), with directed biopsy; Dilation procedures in stomach, small intestine, and colon; Enteral and parenteral alimentation; Esophageal dilation (Bougienage, guidewire, TTS balloon); Esophageal stent placement; Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, including biopsy; Flexible sigmoidoscopy, including biopsy; Intraveneous conscious sedation; Nonvariceal hemostatis, (thermal and injection), both upper and lower GI tract; Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy; Percutaneous liver biopsy; Proctoscopy; Variceal hemostasis, etc. Provides training to residents, interns, hospital corps personnel, students, etc.Qualifications required: * MD/DO/ECFMG/5th Pathway* Active unrestricted physician license from any state* At least 5 years physician experience (includes completion of internship/residency in Internal Medicine and additional training in Gastroenterology or equivalent Gastroenterology experience and training)* U. S.
