The incumbent is assigned to the Behavioral VA Health Care Line. The incumbent´s primary assignment is with the Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Program (DRRTP) within the Behavioral Health Care Line clinic that provides a diverse and complex range of treatment to veterans with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring clinical response to treatment and adjusts level of care as necessary. Various other functions include but are not limited to counseling, psychotherapy, using individual, group, couples, and/or family approaches as dictated by the patient´s need. The DRRTP Psychiatrist plays a significant role in the patient-centered interdisciplinary treatment planning process. The incumbent is assigned to the Mental Health Service located at the Dayton VA medical Center. Travel to the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) to provide services may also be required as necessary. Services are provided in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The incumbent is responsible for completing psychiatric evaluations on new patients and following them for management of their psychiatric disorders. The incumbent diagnoses and treats a wide variety of psychiatric disorders in veterans of both sexes and a wide age range. The incumbent must be well versed in the major treatment modalities. The incumbent is assigned to the Mental Health Service located at the Dayton VA medical Center. The incumbent functions as the Medical Director of the Opiate Treatment Program within the Substance Abuse Program in the Mental Health Service. The incumbent is responsible for administering all medical services provided by the program, either by performing them directly or delegating specific responsibility to authorized healthcare professionals functioning under the Medical Director?s direct clinical supervision. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the coordination of all Opiate Treatment Program quality assurance standards, and supporting team members for standards that must be met on a daily basis. The Medical Director works with the Substance Abuse Coordinator for Opiate Treatment Program compliance and assists with hiring of appropriate staff and team organization. This position will provide opportunities for clinical care, individual and group work with Substance Use Disorder and dually diagnosed veterans from the urban Jacksonville area.
