The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia is actively seeking a board certified or board eligible physician in Gastroenterology with standard skills in all endoscopic procedures and is capable of teaching student residents and fellows. The Charlie Norwood VAMC has an academic affiliation with a major medical college and candidate should have credentials which would qualify him/her for a possible faculty position. The Physician provides comprehensive care for patients who have illness within the scope of Gastroenterology. In addition to patient care, the physician may have responsibilities in other areas, such as education and research. The physician is responsible for providing primary, secondary, and tertiary care in both hospitalized and outpatient settings, identifying patient health problems and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs. He/she is responsible for coordinating activities of other health service personnel, resolving problems affecting patient care and providing appropriate education for the patient and/or family members regarding the patient´s care, patient´s illness and its management. A major percentage of the physician´s time will be devoted to patient care. Depending on other activities, sufficient time will be allotted to administrative duties.Recruitment incentive maybe negotiable. Relocation expenses are authorized.Up to 26 days of paid annual (vacation/personal) leave each year. 13 days of sick leave each year. 15 days of military leave each year for active reservists and National Guard members. 10 paid Federal holidays each year.
