The VA Cardiologist perform inpatient and outpatient Cardiology consultations and interpret diagnostic tests (teadmills, Holter and Event monitors, echocardigrams), Procedural skills needed include placement of Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, temporary transvenous pacemaker and permanent pacemaker. S/he will provide direct patient movement with respect to appropriate placement, diagnostic studies, and treatments. Incumbent provides expert opinion on level and appropriateness of care for patients of the VA requiring cardiology specialty services. Will act as point of contact with consult scheduling service, to arrange the appropriate placement of patients within the medical center or requesting referral outside the system. Incumbent review plans of care and/or results submitted by outside cardiology services as to appropriate disposition, and review requested diagnostic studies as needed to ensure appropriateness.
