Emergency Department Medical Director needed in Galax, Virginia.

Seeking medical director for 16,500 visit emergency department at Twin County Regional Healthcare in Galax, Virginia. Must be BC/BP EM and have prior administrative experience.Galax, Virginia is the gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is 82 miles southwest of Roanoke and 68 miles northwest of Winston-Salem, NC. The City is rich with tradition, shopping, recreation, and scenic beauty. Twin County Regional Hospital is a 141-bed facility that includes acute care, ambulatory care, and emergency services. TCRH is considered a rural hospital that serves a large Medicare population, as well as, a total population of approximately 60,000. This facility is one of the few hospitals left that is stand-alone and not for profit. The department has thirteen beds, four of which are dedicated for the fast track. The Emergency Department has recently been expanded and is a state-of-the-art facility with experienced nursing staff that now accommodates more beds (20) and has two dedicated trauma rooms. The ED sees approximately 17,000 visits annually and patient volume continues to increase. Twenty-four hour laboratory and x-ray are available. Specialty support is available from OB/GYN, pediatrics, and surgery. More serious cases are transferred to Lansing or Midland. This Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center with all of the RNs certified in Advanced Life Saving Courses (ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CEN).
