Hours may vary to include weekends, evenings and holidays to meet operational needs.**This position will be home based in Modesto, but under circumstances of operational need may require work and travel between all facilities in the Central Valley Service Area (currently Tracy, Modesto and Stockton) for brief periods. If the period of time reaches 90 days, the ongoing need will be discussed with union representatives.EDUCATION/ LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: SKILLS TESTING: N/A QUALIFICATIONS:- Minimum of one (1) year current clinical Optometrist experience required within past three years. Two years of experience preferred.- One (1) year of experience in LASIK pre- and post-op care strongly preferred.- Experienced in use of diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceuticals- Full range of Optometry experience including contact lenses, patient examination skills including Rx for glasses and contact lenses.- Experience performing refractions with current instrumentation- Satisfactory attendance over the past 12 months required- Bilingual in Spanish preferredPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Therapeutics certification, low vision/pediatrics experience preferred.POSITION SUMMARY: DUTIES: 1) Perform refractions utilizing hand/stand and other current instrumentation as appropriate 2) Obtains appropriate patient history 3) Neutralizes optical devices and takes and records visual acuities with and without optical device 4) Examines internal and external eye for pathology utilizing slit lamp, tonometer, ophthalmoscope and other instrumentation as needed 5) Utilizes topical diagnostic and therapeutic pharmacological agents permitted in the State of California and consistent with approved facility guidelines 6) Performs contact lens procedures including evaluation and prescription, fitting and follow-up according to facility operational needs 7) Provides low vision services as appropriate 8) Provides strabismus exams according to facility operational needs 9) Communicate Optometry activities with Ophthalmology and Optical sales as appropriate 10) Records in a complete manner all procedures performed and includes the prescription given, impressions, recommendations and general disposition of patient 11) Refers as necessary to Ophthalmology or other health providersPerforms other related duties including but not limited to: 1) Completes school, DMV, FAA and other like forms 2) Dictates/writes referral and information letters to other providers or agencies as appropriate, or otherwise communicates with parents, relatives or other providers as appropriate 3) Attends and participates in departmental meetings and quality assurance/peer review functions 4) Issues/re-issues prescriptions of KP forms for other clinic eye doctors or outside vendors as appropriateThis position may require travel between all facilities in the Central Valley Service Area(currently Tracy, Modesto and Stockton) as necessary for operational needsMUST BE WILLING TO WORK IN A LABOR-MANAGEMENT PARTNERSHIP ENVIRONMENT
