The Lankenau Cancer Center is a clinical research and education center that has strong ties to the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR), an independent Main Line Health entity led by the leading cancer research scientist George C. Prendergast, Ph.D. Major financial support is being dedicated by Lankenau Hospital and Main Line Health to the development of the Lankenau Cancer Center with this recruitment. Here are some details about the Cancer Center and this position:The Lankenau Cancer Center offers a comprehensive and innovative oncology program in the fight against cancer. In addition to inpatient and outpatient treatment, the center includes programs for MD residency and fellowship education, prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment and support. The physician Director will lead the Cancer Center to achieve several developmental goals, including:• Facilitation and coordination of all services supporting cancer patients through every phase of their care; • Achievement of top performance on clinical quality outcomes and customer service measures; • Implementation of strategies to grow patient volume in breast, colorectal, genitourinary, gynecological, lung, and musculoskeletal cancers, and in hematology, hematological oncology, and radiation oncology. • Development of progressively higher levels of the cancer program toward designation as an NCI cancer center; and• Creation of an identity that is recognized and respected by patients, clinicians donors, and the public at large. The primary responsibilities of the Director of the Cancer Center include operational performance; physician recruitment; management of quality of care standards and guidelines; research growth and administration; leadership of various committees within Lankenau Hospital; participation in fundraising activities; and faculty appointments (at the NCI Cancer Center stage of development)Our goal is to identify a physician leader (medical or surgical oncologist) who is recognized by the NCI and other major funding organizations, who has experience in a Comprehensive Cancer Center and who has managed multi-investigator clinical research teams. Familiarity with the latest clinical practice guidelines and outcome measures from NCCN and ASCO is essential. We seek a dynamic physician leader who is knowledgeable in fundraising tactics for cancer centers and has the ability to work with major donors.
