The North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services is recruiting a Physician Director II-A (Medical Director). This position will provide services for Cherry Hospital (a State Psychiatric Hospital) which is located in Goldsboro, North Carolina.Located in Goldsboro, Cherry Hospital is just an hour away from the metropolitan area of Raleigh-Durham, one and a half hours from the beautiful Atlantic coast, and a half-day’s drive from the mountains that grace North Carolinas western boundaries. It is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.As a Medical Director, you will be responsible for ensuring all patients at Cherry Hospital receive quality care as it relates to medical issues. This includes supervising and providing guidance to each medical physician and the physician extenders in the following service areas: Dental Clinic, X-Ray Department, Laboratory Services, Employee Health, and Telemedicine. Other responsibilities include: managing and participating in direct patient care (as required) and on call scheduling to ensure physicians are always available to hospitalized patients. You will report directly to the Clinical Director. This position requires: graduation from an accredited school of medicine, completion of residency or specialty training, and two years of experience in the practice of a particular specialty of medicine; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Eligible for licensure to practice medicine in North Carolina and so licensed before permanent appointment. **Pre-Employment drug screening and criminal record check is required. **As a condition for continued employment: Must successfully pass all required parts of CPI s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention course.
