IRL Pathology Medical Director Job description The Medical Director is responsible for providing the medical direction for the Integrated Regional Laboratories core laboratory facility as well as medical leadership and strategic direction for the Integrated Regional Laboratories System. Assumes responsibility and authority for the clinical direction, evaluation, and coordination of the functions and activities of assigned departments within the organization to ensure clinical service objective. Professional Functions: 1. Effectively works with all levels of the HCA/IRL organization and client base to ensure a service delivery system, which sets standards of excellence in terms of quality, response time, and overall customer satisfaction. Key stakeholders include corporate and hospital management, hospital based pathologists, core laboratory PhDs, employees, and clients. 2. Meets regularly with stakeholders to ensure effective interfaces are established, maintained and enhanced. 3. Continually monitors and stays abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the laboratory industry, and ensures changes are accurately communicated to affected departments and implemented on a timely basis. 4. Actively participates in growing IRL´s client base. Qualifications: 1. Verbal, clinical, business planning, and interpersonal skills typically acquired through the completion of a post graduate M.D. program and 3-5 years experience in clinical laboratory medical leadership. 2. In depth and up-to-date knowledge of clinical and anatomic pathology in the hospital/commercial laboratory industry. 3. Board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as experience in an integrated laboratory system environment are required.
