CharterCARE Health Partners seeks Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

Roger Williams Hospital/Medical Center (RWH) and St. Joseph Health Services (SJHS)/Fatima Hospital (Fatima) have finalized plans for an affiliation that will result in the formation of CharterCARE Health Partners (CharterCARE) as of January 2010. The newly formed CharterCARE maintains a total of 579 licensed beds with the opportunity for growth at both facilities. The CharterCARE CMO will be a member of the senior executive team and will be primarily responsible for further development and oversight of excellent and smoothly functioning, enterprise-wide quality, safety, and medical staff office activities. In addition the CMO, is expected to be an active facilitator to engage CharterCARE physicians, to promote physician influence in the new system, and to develop a culturally cohesive medical staff. The CMO is expected to contribute strategic perspective and advice to the senior management team as it seeks to optimize operations and finance, build service lines, and generally enhance its competitive positioning. The ideal CMO will be a physician with outstanding clinical and executive leadership credentials. He or she will have strong practical experience in medical staff-hospital relationships, medical staff affairs, and the design and implementation of quality and safety systems. At a minimum, he or she will have functioned in the role of CMO, VPMA, Vice President for Quality, or similar physician executive positions in a complex environment that has required hands on operational leadership. He/she will have demonstrated effectiveness in developing and implementing physician-hospital alignment strategies and in negotiating relationships.The successful CMO candidate must have substantial and credible prior practice experience.
