The incumbent is assigned to the Mental Health Service located at the Dayton VA medical Center. Travel to the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) to provide services may also be required as necessary. Services are provided in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The incumbent is responsible for completing psychiatric evaluations on new patients and following them for management of their psychiatric disorders. The incumbent diagnoses and treats a wide variety of psychiatric disorders in veterans of both sexes and a wide age range. The incumbent must be well versed in the major treatment modalities. Other duties include, but are not limited to, on-call emergency psychiatric intervention availability, participation in various hospital committees, departmental and hospital in-service programs, conducting or assisting residents and/or nurse practitioners in the evaluation and treatment of the psychiatric patients. Staff psychiatrists shall be responsible for inpatient and outpatient care, and graduate and undergraduate medical education and scientific research as appropriateApplications will be accepted from United States citizens and nationals. The incumbent is assigned to the Mental Health Service located at the Dayton VA medical Center. The incumbent functions as the Medical Director of the Opiate Treatment Program within the Substance Abuse Program in the Mental Health Service. The incumbent is responsible for administering all medical services provided by the program, either by performing them directly or delegating specific responsibility to authorized healthcare professionals functioning under the Medical Director?s direct clinical supervision. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the coordination of all Opiate Treatment Program quality assurance standards, and supporting team members for standards that must be met on a daily basis. The Medical Director works with the Substance Abuse Coordinator for Opiate Treatment Program compliance and assists with hiring of appropriate staff and team organization. In addition opportunities for teaching medical students, psychiatry residents and participating in research may be available. Applications will be accepted from United States citizens and nationals.
