The incumbent will be a physician delivering emergency services to veterans presenting for emergent health care. Duties will include day-to-day care of veteran patients presenting with emergent/urgent problems. Expectations include a high level of quality of patient care and patient satisfaction. Day to day practice will include use of an electronic medical record, implementation of principles of advanced access and efficient flow, and maintaining cost effective medical care.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Qualification Requirements: All individuals applying under this announcement must meet the qualifications for appointment as contained in VA Handbook 5005 Part II, Appendix G2. a. Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when no qualified citizens are available in accordance with current regulations.) b. English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7404(d). c. Licensure: Must have a current, full, active and unrestricted license as a Physician in a state, Territory, or commonwealth (e.g., Puerto Rico) or the United States or District of Columbia.d. Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. e. Board Certification in Emergency Medicine is desired. Board certified or eligible Internal Medicine/Family Practice/Primary Care physicians with ACLS will also be considered for these positions (Previous emergency department experience is desired).Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.a. Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.b. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.c. Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
