ORGANIZATION: A Respected History. In 1964 a small Cleveland-area Multispecialty group become the first group practice in Ohio to provide medical services on a prepaid basis. This group expanded over time and eventually became the Ohio Permanente Medical Group (OPMG), incorporating in 1981. Today we number approximately 180 physicians (96% are board certified) and 70 allied health professionals (nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, physician assistants, podiatrists, psychologists, and social workers). Our practitioners work out of ten Kaiser Permanente medical office facilities in the Cleveland and Akron metropolitan areas. We admit patients to a variety of teaching and community hospitals, including the Cleveland Clinic for tertiary care. An Integrated Health Care System Kaiser Permanente Ohio has consistently been ranked as the #1 managed care system in the state, and in the top twenty nationwide. In 2006 we received our fifth consecutive excellent rating from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the accrediting body for managed care organizations. Our physicians also benefit from the latest in medical technology, including a nationally acclaimed computerized medical records system. As a very unique and truly integrated health care organization, our emphasis on quality, preventive care, and medical management are unmatched. A Quality Work Life OPMG physicians are committed professionals who enjoy a balanced lifestyle. Our call frequency is less than in most groups, and scheduling is predictable.
